In Autumn when the leaves do fall. There's often heard a lonesome call. The sounds so chilling, yet so sweet, It sends shivers down to your feet.
It tells of emptiness and fear, Of hard times and feelings of despair, Of snow filled fields and frozen ground, Of creatures sleeping snug and sound.
The empty vastness shimmers with reflected light And wolves sing their mournful songs all night. The deer in small groups shiver and start, As frozen branches crack and fall apart.
Then the first warmth spreads it's wings. The robin red breast sits and sings, As the geese fly overhead. Soon all life will return from seeming dead.
So life's circle will be turned And life's lesson slowly learned. Please listen to that lonesome call. Life does return after each fall.
