Saw you today, you who used to be strong
as the wind that blows from the northerly
ocean before illness wrecked your breath.

You used to be proud as an amazon queen
now you're weak as the dust that abjectly
blows on tired summer lanes.

Your body, a temple where I worshipped
my love for you is now a ruin, its beauty
a receding memory.

Yet, deep in your green eyes I read of vibrant
life, you must hold on to that for without you
I will get lost in winter fog.
