Outside I soak up life's raw nature,

basic necessity of needs.

Night brings a blanket of stars,

darkness wraps around me.

Little light left from burning embers.

Sounds of crickets and frogs,

a sense of peaceful freedom,

the air concentrated.

Sunny rays wake me,

hear choir of birds sing,

bees buzz by.

A placid lake ready to fish,

geese swim in a row.

Coffee and eggs heat over a fire,

smell scent of baked wood,

smoke fills the air and covers me.

Exhausted from fishing and hikes,

a hammock rests the soul.

Outdoor adventures real,

naked of modern technology,

home away from home,

my spirit feels renewed.
