You have licked the juices

and feasted on ripe berries

savouring their tender flesh.

Lips stained red and purple,

your mouth drips richness.

Greedy, you plunge

moist tangled undergrowth

the sustenance of your soul.

With unseeing eye you reach

to a bush already bare.

Thorn bloodied fingers

mime a picking movement

twitching the cool whiteness

of my sheets; and I shroud you

against an agony of vision.
