NAPA EXHIBITION 2002

brush

St Ives, Cornwall

The Mariners Gallery

NAPA UK's 2002 Regional Exhibition was held at:
The Mariners Gallery,
Norway Square,
St Ives,
Cornwall,
United Kingdom.

It took place from 9th to 23rd November 2002.

Below is an extract from The International NAPA Newspages:

...Although the NAPA council deliberated at length about the location of St. Ives for a national exhibition it was finally decided that the town's prestige, its unique historic links with the visual arts, warranted the project...

...34 members contributed 57 paintings...
The Mariners Gallery belongs to the St.lves Society of Artists whose members stage exhibitions in the former Chapel building throughout the summer and early autumn. The lower part of the building, in essence the crypt, is made available to other artists and it was in here that the NAPA exhibition was staged. lt is an excellent exhibition space, right in the centre of St. Ives, only a few yards from the beach and on the route from the sea to the Tate St. Ives.

Since the St. Ives Society does not curate these temporary exhibitions it was arranged that NAPA member David Hillhouse -former Principal Museums Officer for Wirral and a curator of some 25 years experience - would travel down...
